icosa

With funding provided by the UK government’s Department for International Development (DFID), we conduct the Integrated Control of Schistosomiasis and soil-transmitted helminths in Sub-Saharan Africa (ICOSA) project across ten countries. The key aim of this project is to provide treatment for parasitic worm infections within each country to school-age children and adults who are at high risk of infection. Since the project began in 2010, the SCI has worked closely with the governments in each country, collaborating in particular with the Ministries of Health and Education, to align all work with the country’s national strategy for all Neglected Tropical Diseases. ICOSA will run until December 2018, and to date has successfully provided over 155 million treatments.
